Flowers for a religious ceremony

In the hours I had in Cuenca, I wanted to find a post office and mail a package

There was this tiny native lady, stone old, who sat in the entrance, greeted politely by all, including the employees. Other than to sell her candy and envelopes, she had another purpose there. I had brought the items I wanted to ship with me in my daypack, but had no box. The clerk behind the window went and came out, walked over to the old lady, greeted her with a handshake. and then explained to her what I needed. The old gal, probably all of four foot four, came over to me, looked at what I wanted to ship, went to what I thought was a broom closet, and came up with several boxes. I found one that fitted and thanked her. She went back to her chair. Before I left I went over and gave her a dollar (also the currency of Ecuador) and she beamed, as did all who saw that. And here she is.

Those amazing domes seem incongruous to me, considering the rest of the architecture of the Cathedral

That's the German consulate, on the right side

Yum!

Lots of upscale restaurants along that walk
